Tailgate Operation (Wagon) The tailgate can be opened a regular door or like a like drop-gate. The tailgate and tailgate window must be unlocked. first The tailgate is unlocked by usingthe power doorlock controls, the oval key in the lock or the Remote Keyless Entry System if you have it. Once the tailgate has been unlocked, you can unlatch the tailgate window by pushing the key cylinder button all the way in. Then, raise the window. To open the tailgate like a regular door, pull up on the handle thatis near the end of the tailgate, on the passenger's side. 2-9
