STRING HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT (See photo "A") The Fender bridge bars employed on both bass models are designed to provide the player with any desired string height. To raise the individual string, turn the two set-screws clockwise. To lower the string or strings, turn the screws counterclockwise. With - Fender 62 Vintage Precision Bass | Owners Manual - Page 7
If a string plays flat at the 12th fret when compared with the harmonic at that fret, turn the longitudinal screw counterclockwise so as to move the bridge bar toward the neck. Lay the instrument on a table or other flat surface and insert a small standard-head screwdriver in the nut exposed at the end of the neck near the pickguard edge.
