Installing TCP/IP Protocols in Your PC Before using the interface card with TCP/IP, you must make sure that the TCP/IP protocol is installed in your operating system. Setting the IP Address Using arp/ping Commands If you are using UNIX or OS/2, you need to use the arp and ping commands to set the IP address of the interface card.
