If the USB Y-cable does not supply enough power, try connecting an external power supply (not included) to the power port on the enclosure. Next Steps If you have installed a new disk drive in your enclosure, you must prepare it for use by initializing and formatting it, so that your computer can recognize and communicate with it. ! Disconnecting Your USB Enclosure Although the enclosure supports hot-plugging and hotunplugging, Adaptec recommends that you follow these instructions to gracefully disconnect your enclosure from your computer.
