Playing a Cassette Tape Your tape player is built to work best with tapes that are 30 to 45 minutes long oneach side. Tapes longer than that are so thin they may not work well in this player. With theradio on, press a tape into the slot marked AUTO REVERSE (tape side goes in first). Once the tape is playing, use the upper and lower knobs for volume, balance andfade just as you didfor the radio. The arrow in the graphic display shows which side of the tape is being played. This audio system has automatic00 Dolby@BNR to reduce background noise on Dolby encoded tapes. Dolby is a registered trademark of Dolby Laboratories. FWD: Press FWD to advance the tape rapidly. Press FWD or PROG again to play the tape. (The radio plays while a tape is advancing.) PREV: To hear the passageon the tape that has just played, press PREV.The tape will back up and stop at the first four-second quiet spot in the tape or the spot at which you press PROG PREV. or NEXT To go immediately to the next selectionon the tape, press NEXT.The tape will stop at the first four-second quiet spot in the tape the spot at which or you press PROGor PREV. ST-PL: To switch from tape to radio immediately, press the ST-PL buttonand the radio will resume playing the station that was tuned in when you inserted a tape. Pressing ST-PL again will allow the tape resume to where it stopped. EJECT To remove or stop the tape and listen to the radio, press the EJECT button. Tapes may ejected be even whenthe radio is off. PROG: To go from one side of the tape to the other, press the PROG button. Cr02: This button sets the tape bias. When playing high-bias chrome or metal tapes, press the Cr02 button (the button will light). When playing standard tapes, press CrO2 again to turn it off. REV Press REV to reverse the tape rapidly. Press REV or PROG again to play the tape.(The radio plays while a tape is rewinding.) 3-10
