AUTO: Use AUTO when you wantthe system to adjust automatically to changes in temperature. When the system is set forautomatic, air will come from the floor outlets, the instrument panel outlets, or the windshield outlets. Fan speed will vary asthe system gets to and maintains the temperature setting you have selected. To find your comfort zone, start with 75 AUTO, give the car about 20 minutes to stabilize, then adjust the temperature setting if necessary. The display will show the set temperature and fan speed. The control setting will be remembered the next time the car is started. In cold weather the system will delay turning on the fan, to avoid blowing cold air. The length of the delay depends on engine coolant temperature, outside temperature and time since the engine was last started. Pushing the FAN A button will override this delay and cause the fan to start. TEMP: To choose the temperature you want maintained inside the vehicle, press the TEMP A or v. You can choose from 60O (16 O C), for maximum F cooling, to 90°F (33"C), for maximum heating. It is not necessary to choose the extreme temperature to get the system to heat or cool. The system does it automatically. If you have the steering wheel controls, you can change the desired temperature by pressing A TEMP 7. BI-LEVEL: This setting is designed for use on sunny days when the weatheris moderately warm or cool. On days like these, the sun may adequately warm your upper body, but your lower body may not bewarm enough. The BI-LEVELsetting directs outside air into your vehicle in two ways. Cool air is directed toward your upper body through the front instrument panel outlets, while slightly warmed air isdirected through the heater outlet at your feet. The air conditioner compressor operates in all air conditioning positions and the DEF position when the F outside temperature is above 40 O (5 C). O v To rid the system of stale air in warm weather, air will come out of the floor outlets for a short time. 3-3
